Thank you all for your continued engagement throughout the Grow With Us Lexington County Planning initiative! The Steering Committee and project team have been hard at work preparing the core goals and growth alternatives for public consideration since the start of the year. We are currently in Round 2 of the public education and participation process.
An update on what we’ve been up to so far:
- There have been two Steering Committee meetings to review feedback on draft comprehensive plan goals and provide responses on scenario planning concepts and community engagement materials.
- There were two County Council meetings in June 2021 to discuss the Factbook Findings and discuss draft plan goals and performance metrics.
- Three scenario planning concepts have been developed to accommodate the next 20 years of growth: Current Trends, Rural Transition, and Town Clusters.
Assessments of these scenarios include impacts to growth patterns, transportation related factors, and fiscal impacts related to new services and facilities needed by new growth. These analyses are intended to help residents and County leaders understand the tradeoffs between different development patterns.
The next opportunity to give us your feedback will be September 7-19. We are requesting input on alternative scenarios for how the County could grow in the future! Input will be received through the “Testing Growth Scenarios” engagement portal.
And please encourage your friends, family, neighbors, and colleagues that love Lexington County and care about its future to participate!
